The newest Dutton Ranch courtesy of Dan Goldfield & Co. is a total knockout. A lively, energetic old-world style Chardonnay with fresh citrus and stone fruits, a touch of salinity and piercing minerality. Flavors of green apple, mango, apricot and lemon are accented by salivating notes of toasted hazelnuts and toffee. This one is a perfect compliment to most any dish or served chilled in a glass by the pool.
The long, hot 2017 vintage gave a few precious wineries the raw ingredients for truly exceptional wines. My favorite RRVs in 2017 came courtesy of Gary Farrell, Paul Hobbs and Merry Edwards. Just one problem, all three of those bottles will set you back a pretty penny. But for the quality to price ratio, Kenwood’s Six Ridges RRV Pinot puts all three to shame. Bright cherries with vibrancy, good acidity and a lot of fruit up front. This is easy breezy drinking for a great price
