Lioco Albarino Clarksburg 2025

Inaugural Vintage

The vineyard is farmed by legendary winemaker Steve Matthiasson, who’s worked with Araujo, Dalla Valle, Spottswoode, and Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars to name a few. Located in California’s best-kept secret for white wine, Clarksburg benefits from a 40-degree daily temperature swing and cooling maritime breezes from San Francisco Bay that act as natural air conditioning.

This inaugural release is absolutely bristling with energy. It’s laser sharp with ripping acidity and beautiful minerality – no flabbiness to be found. They age this in 60% stainless steel and 40% neutral oak to get a little rounder of a finished product, and still keep all of the green fruit and jasmine aromas for a gorgeous and sophisticated white that checks in at just 11.8% alcohol.

Original price was: $33.00.Current price is: $28.50.

Not many wine dreams can trace their start back to an alleyway, but that’s exactly where LIOCO was born. In an alleyway behind Spago Beverly Hills, Matt Licklider fantasized about crafting wines that favored nuance over sheer power with his buddy, Spago’s beverage director Kevin O’Connor. In 2005, driven by a passion for European finesse, Matt, his wife Sara, and his buddy Kevin decided to make their dream a reality and they started LIOCO wines as a ‘virtual winery’ selling cases out of their own homes.

Flash forward two decades and LIOCO has become a monster in the market. Matt Licklider and his team have been on fire. Fueled by a relentless search for meticulously farmed cool-climate vineyards, LIOCO’s tiny-production, single-vineyard wines have charmed sommeliers from coast to coast.
