Kir-Yianni is a play on the namesake founder, Yiannis Boutaris (nicknamed Yiannni) who makes delicious whites and reds in the Macedonia AVA within Greece. Yianni is a well-known figure in the country having served as the mayor of Thessaloniki (Greece’s 2nd largest city) before starting his post-politics career in wine.
