This is an absolutely killer Sparkling Red, the kind of wine that I don’t normally offer, but have to because otherwise a lot of people would miss out on something delicious and pretty special here. It’s got this beautiful darkish reddish black hue with a fruity and slightly herbaceous nose. It’s a lovely draw expression with fresh, juicy red and black fruits with a hint of minerality to play off the herbal notes. The bubbles are tiny and pure and add a refreshing layer to this fun little number. It comes in a good looking bottle and whats inside is fantastic. This is a crowd-pleaser, for sure.

The story of Lambrusco is closely intertwined with the Chiarli family of Modena, arguably the most important producer of red sparkling wine in the world. It dates back to Cleto Chiarli, the proprietor of the Modena restaurant Osteria dell’Artigliere in the mid-1800 who used to make his own wine to sell to restaurants. His Lambrusco was so well received that he ended up quitting everything else and opening his own winery.
After many generations, the Charli family continue to upgrade and expand with a new facility in the heart of the Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro DOC in Modena province. The Cleto Chiarli estate also includes vineyards in Sozzigalli and in Grasparossa. This is for the production of Vecchia Modena Premium, the first ever Lambrusco to receive the Tre Bicchieri from the Gambero Rosso.
