Château Revelette is an incredible property set at a crazy elevation north of Mount Saint Victoire in the heart of Provence. It’s been organically farmed for decades, producing rosé with a high degree of elegance and finesse. North of Mount Saint Victoire, lays the estate of Peter Fischer, the beautiful Château Revelette. This 25 hectare estate is unique in Provence; its high elevation and the protection of the mountain allows much slower ripening of its grapes, resulting in wine that is both fine and aromatically driven, traits rarely found in the appellation.
Peter Fischer tends his vines organically and practices a non-interventive style of winemaking that allows the wines to truly represent their unique terroir and to accurately express the character of the given vintage. The Rosé is a bright and elegant wine, delivering high-toned flavors of strawberry and melon with plenty of extraction and length. It’s a traditional Provencal blend of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault.

I love everything about this wine! Bone dry and super fresh, the south of France in a glass.
Rosé is the classic wine of spring and summer, complementing all types of cuisine; especially anything on the grill.

The vintage was a warm one – traditionally a very good thing for CDP – and third in a trio of odd vintages (2005, 2007, & 2009) that set new standards in the region. With some many varieties in the blend, especially late-ripening Grenache, the warmer years tend to allow all the grape varieties to ripen and great vineyard managers make several passes picking at optimal maturity.

Domaine Jaume Vinsobres Altitude 420 is an old-vine Grenache-Syrah blend from vineyards planted in Les Collines at some of the highest points in the Rhône. The Jaumes have farmed these dizzying elevations at their estate in Vinsobres for 100+ years. The 2020 is one of his best yet, pristine and fresh, a bowl full of berried-up fruit yet with the tension and length that belies its humble price. Incredible bang for the buck, tailor-made for anyone’s house red, and a slam dunk for any kind of meat on the bone.

As of late, the duo is making some of the very best Pink wines in all of France, maybe even the world. Certainly, there’s no one right now producing greater values than what the Bielers are able to create. Take their 2021 Provence Rose as a perfect example: a lights out, bone-dry yet succulent, food-friendly treat that continues the trends of 90+ point reviews. The late, great Josh Raynolds of Vinous gave this one 90 points, calling the wine “juicy, focused, and energetic on the palate.” A perfect summarization.

The Rosa di Ceparano 2022 is a racy blend made up of 60% Sangiovese and 40% Syrah vinified separately but both in stainless steal. Vinifying separately gives this wine a lot of flair with contrasting personalities that leads to inviting notes of fresh flowers, cherries, white peach and wild strawberries. On the palate, the wine is a little bit savory, with a solid core of red berry flavors with hints of citrus and even a little shot of spice and nutmeg that flashes. It’s a vibrant Rose that should pair quite nicely with food.
