“The 2025 Bardolino Chiaretto Rosé is a crunchy, sweetly fruited, utterly charming blend of 60% Corvina, 35% Rondinella and 5% Molinara. Sappy, juicy acids are sneakily persistent from start to finish. Floral perfume and notes of sweet orange oil explode through the mid-palate and into the close.” –Eric Guido, Vinous

Franco Piona of Cavalchina has two jobs. When he’s not on tour with Billy Gibbons and Steve Vai as their trusted guitar tech, he’s making some of the finest wines near Lake Garda in the tiny village of Custoza. And he’s been doing it his whole life—his family single-handedly created the Custoza appellation in the 1970s, and his grandfather Luciano planted the first vines back in 1948. Four generations deep and still going strong.

These guys are true superstars of Lake Garda. Their Amedeo Superiore has won Gambero Rosso’s coveted Tre Bicchieri award fourteen years in a row. Fourteen! But today it’s all about their Bardolino Chiaretto Rosé who took home another big score from Vinous, who called it “a lovely Rosé from a recognized master in the making of Chiaretto.” A guitar tech who makes world-class Italian Rosé. Only in Italy!
