98+ Points, Jeb Dunnuck 97 Points, Wine Spectator – 97 Points, James Suckling – 97 Points, The Wine Independent

Jeb Dunnuck tasted this wine and gave it 98+ points with a prediction that should make your ears perk up: he believes it will hit a perfect 100 points within a decade. That means by 2031, we’re looking at a triple-digit Lynch-Bages. We’re already four years into that timeline, and the wine is evolving exactly as he predicted. Dunnuck called it “one of the finest vintages I’ve ever tasted from this address” with “incredible aromatics, richness without weight, perfect balance, and a purity of fruit that’s just about off the charts.” Wine Spectator chimed in with 97 points, Wine Enthusiast with 96 and a Cellar Selection. This is a 50-year wine on a trajectory toward perfection.

“One of the finest vintages I’ve ever tasted from this address, the 2018 Château Lynch-Bages has everything you look for in a great wine: incredible aromatics, richness without weight, perfect balance, and a purity of fruit that’s just about off the charts. Dense purple, it reveals a glorious perfume of blackcurrants and blackberry fruits, a deep, unctuous mouthfeel, building tannin’s, and a complex array of cedar pencil, tobacco, wood smoke, and chocolate. A true blockbuster in every sense, with masses of fruit and tannin’s as well as moderate acidity, it will probably merit a triple-digit score in a decade and is a 50+-year wine from this team.”

97 Points, Wine Spectator
Vibrant, with a violet and cassis lead-in that then expands to include steeped black cherry and plum fruit as well as extra savory, iron and licorice root notes. Nice latent grip too, with a mouthwatering tug of earth at the very end. The fruit is so vibrant, it’s a tease now, but there’s structure here for the long haul, so be patient. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Best from 2025 through 2040.

97 Points, James Suckling
Aromas of blackberries, cloves, licorice, dried leaves, graphite and black olives. It’s full-bodied with firm, tight tannins. Structured and tannic with beautiful austerity and a long, mineral and layered finish. The tannins grow on the palate. Try from 2026.

Chateau Lynch Bages stands as a testament to the artistry of winemaking in Pauillac. Nestled amidst the prestigious Médoc region, this fifth-growth estate has consistently produced wines that defy their classification.

The Lynch Bages terroir, a blend of gravel and clay, provides an ideal environment for cultivating Cabernet Sauvignon, the dominant grape variety in their blends. The estate’s meticulous farming practices and innovative winemaking techniques have elevated their wines to cult status.

Today, the estate is nothing short of a modern-day marvel. The facility looks like a museum as much as it does a winery – a completed decked out state-of-the art facility that is utilizing technology as well as anyone else in Bordeaux or throughout the wine world.
