91 Points, Vinous
The 2020 Château Le Doyenne is rock-solid, with a charming, balanced, undeniably delicious profile carrying lots of red and black fruits, spice, and underbrush-like nuances. With ripe, soft tannins and good purity of fruit, it’s well worth seeking out and should have 8-10 years.

91 Points, Forbes
“Deep purple color. Aromas of red fruits that includes raspberries. There’s a sllight mocha in the smooth mouthfeel with silky tannins and lovely dark licorice on the finish. A bit young yet to drink.”

90 Points, Lisa Perotti-Brown
The 2020 Le Doyenné is deep purple-black in color, burshing from the glass with expressive scents of juicy black plums, mulberries and cherry preserves plus suggestions of powdered cinnamon and red roses. The medium to full-bodied with palate is jam-packed with vibrant black fruits supported by plush tannins and well-balanced acidity finishing long and vibrant.

90 Points, Decanter
“Purplish violet-ish color. Fresh bouquet, of good intensity, with notes of peppermint and raspberries. On the palate, the wine is delicious and lively, the tannins are creamy while the structure is crunchy and refreshing. Fruity and persistent finish. An inviting wine that can already be enjoyed in its youth.”

One of the first places that I suggest anyone look when they’re looking for a special Bordeaux value is Château le Doyenné. You will never be disappointed They’ve been one of my go-to bottles since the pandemic shook up Bordeaux’s wine scene. Let me tell you, I’m convinced you won’t find a better bargain in all of Bordeaux than what these folks are producing.

Nestled in between St. Emilion and Graves overlooking the beautiful Garonne River lies Château Le Doyenné – the passion project of Lorraine Watrin’s (Chateau Montrose) parents. They’ve spared no expense in resurrecting the historic property.

They’ve been a rising star ever since they brought in the legendary Michel Rolland to oversee winemaking. That’s right, Michel Rolland, the superstar winemaker whose touch in the vineyards turned him into a living legend. Now their wines are consistently some of the most highest rated in their category, and even took home the Coup de Coeur award for all of Cotes de Bordeaux for this 2020 bottling!
