“With a gorgeously evolved, extremely complex bouquet of forest floor, spring flowers, lead pencil shavings and red and black currants, this full-bodied, dense, ruby/plum/purple-colored wine hits the palate with an opulent, fleshy, full-bodied richness, silky tannins, and a very layered, profoundly concentrated style that is, at the same time, both powerful and sublime. 98 Points, Decanter
It’s hard not to be wowed by this gorgeous wine – such character and power is translated through the aromas which erupt from the glass with plump forest berries, pine needles and cumin spice. It’s still so fresh, with a hard seam of acidity, a graphite core and bubbling promise – this will continue to ebb and flow with age.

The gravelly, limestone soils of Margaux are home to some of the greatest Cabernet Sauvignon based blends in the world. Roots dig deep here, allowing for great extraction of minerality and complexity from this hallowed ground.

Margaux is home to Château Brane-Cantenac, a prestigious and historic estate that was established back in the 18th century. They are renowned for their exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated wines. Classified as a Second Growth in the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855, Brane Cantenac has consistently upheld its reputation for producing high-quality, elegant, and complex wines that reflect the unique terroir of Margaux.

The estate has been run by Henri Lurton since 1992, Lurton’s commitment to sustainable viticulture and precision in the cellar has further elevated the estate’s status considerably. The wines of Brane Cantenac are celebrated for their aromatic finesse, silky tannins, and remarkable aging potential, making them a favorite among collectors and wine enthusiasts worldwide. In special years, they represent some of the very best bottles you can own.

The 2010 is a total showstopper. The 98-pointer is both aromatically complex and incredibly concentrated yet somehow light on its feet. It’s jet black in color with just a hint of mellowing at its edge. With that softening of color comes the introduction of more savory aromatic notes, with cedar, cigar-box and baking spices. It’s aging incredibly well, probably because like Jane Anson wrote in her review, this juice is “Brilliant stuff”.
