Muri Gries Pinot Grigio Alto Adige 2019
Quality Pinot Grigio from the Dolomite Mountain range of Alto Adige can often approach thirty bucks and frankly many are well worth it. This one is a knockout from a sacred place that combines monastery life with vineyard management. Flavor of fresh peaches and tart lemon are both perfectly balanced on its mineral backbone. This wine sizzles on the tongue and finishes long and strong.
Xavier Vignon Côtes du Rhône 100% 2017
Dollar for dollar, Xavier’s Côtes du Rhône is one of the best buys in the store and in the new 2017 vintage, this baby is sporting a hot new 92-point score from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate who called the wine, “Rich, velvety and long”. Xavier eased up on extraction with this 2017 blend, which allows for a lush, soft blend that is loaded with jammy blackberries, blueberries, anise and wild strawberries. It’s got a nice vibrant finish that seals the deal for me– perfect in a glass by the fireplace or with something gamey at the dinner table.
Fabre Montmayou Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva 2019
Don’t let the price tag fool you. This Cabernet from 2018 Argentinian winemaker of the Year, Herve Fabre is a knockout and crazy good for the price. Purple/black in hue. The nose is California-like, filled with black fruits, cassis, both hedonistic and refined, the tell-tale marker for old-vine sourcing. Just released, this is offering a super fresh bouquet that welcomes you in. On the mouth, it’s ripe and long. It drinks like wine that is twice its price, making it a quintessential Nicholas Wines Tuesday nighter.
Isole e Olena Chianti Classico 2017
Paolo De Marchi has won the reputation as one of Tuscany’s finest winemaker. Antonio Galloni famously remarked, “Make no mistake about it, these are some of the most exceptional wines being made anywhere in the world.” That is true and Paolo’s Chianti Classico’s are always some of the best bangs for your buck out there. The Sangiovese dominant blend lands a 92+ score seemingly every year from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, and after tasting this year CC last week, I’d be shocked it if it didn’t at least garner a 92 this year. Made in stainless steal, this boasts fresh notes of Bing Cherry, plum and warm apple pie. It’s smooth and silky and just a pleasure to drink, especially in the fall and winter.
Out of stock
This a win/win deal that I’ve negotiated with a few of our suppliers. I told them that once the Nicholas Faithful gets introduced to a fabulous wine at a great price, they are extremely faithful (that’s why we call them that) and will reorder many times over. The trick is just getting them to try your wines. So my customers get phenomenal wines at the best prices going anywhere. And believe you me, there are some very heavy hitters in the case. This is my first ever Napa Valley edition and it’s a beauty. It’s even got two Napa Cabs in there… a sensational deal.
An amazing, once in a blue moon shot at acquiring all three of the single-vineyard Pinot Noirs from the family behind Caymus at a buyers-only price of $120 (27% OFF). Each single-vineyard in the Wagner portfolio is very different– each with unique soil, climate, region and even Pinot Noir clone. Each is from the 2021 vintage and is new and yet to be scored. Not to worry though, these always rack up big scores and Las Alturas was just #11 wine of the Year from Wine Enthusiast in addition to a 96-pt score. The 2021 single-vineyards are sure to rack up the big scores they always do– but we don’t have the luxury of waiting. Now’s the time for an awesome collector’s opportunity. Pinot and Caymus lovers, rejoice!
95 Points, Wine Spectator – 93 Points, Jeb Dunnuck
In a great 2020 vintage in Chianti, the Antinori Marchese Riserva is absolutely electric. It was a hot year, so it’s expressive right out the gates with red berry, creme de cassis and cherry vanilla aromas. There’s just so much elegance and grace to the wine, you can taste the pedigree here. There is not a single hard edge to this wine. At the price and with the score from Wine Spectator, this very well might be a Top 25 wine of the year this year… at the very least!
Every month, Nicholas Wines will ship two wines hand-selected by Nicholas Harary. Discover a new region, variety, or style! This is the perfect gift for both introductory and expert wine lovers!
