But now with their 2023 release, they’ve announced themselves as serious players in California Pinot.
Wine Enthusiast raved about its “rich, lively profile with aromas of dark cherry, plum, orange marmalade, and dried sage.” The mouthfeel here is totally pumped-up delivering refreshing waves of blue and black fruit mixed with some wild strawberries, baking spices, and a hint of vanilla oak. The secret sauce here is the approach. Veteran winemaker Derek Rohlffs sources from two certified organic vineyards in Lake and Mendocino Counties. The cool microclimate allows for slow, patient ripening – critical for balanced Pinot Noir. A thoughtful blend of Dijon clones alongside heritage Pommard vines creates remarkable complexity.
