When I think of Old Forester bourbon I think super smooth, very approachable. I found this barrel on the 4th floor of Rickhouse L. Tasted at 117.9 proof & rectified down to 90 proof. Heavy caramel notes, roasted peach, with hints of burnt orange & cinnamon. Perfect for a mid day bourbon while you watch the news.

I would suggest you buy more than 1 bottle because when you taste it and realize that you want more… it will be gone.

Michter’s always provides some of the best value in American Whiskey and they never miss. This one is their best bang for the buck bottling that they make. This is so smooth and delicious, you would never know this is bottled at 84.8 Proof. This is a bit of a spicy number with those signature Rye peppery notes, butterscotch, creme brulee and a hint of toasted oak. One of my all-time favorite under $50 bottles.
The Redbreast 12-Year is probably their most notable for a few reasons. One is it’s still available for a great price, and the other is that it’s flat out delicious. There’s a reason this has a hundred accolades next to it, most recently taking home the trophy for World’s best Whiskey in 2019 at the Intl. Wine & Spirits Competition. But the 12-Year Cask Strength is way more rare and it is a pure and unadulterated version of the 12-Year. It’s so friggin good. Made in a combination of Oloroso Sherry Casks and Bourbon Barrels, the 12-Year Cask Strength is textbook single pot Whiskey made at a higher percentage than most Irish whiskeys you’ll find on the market.

This is a very rare beauty and one of the few private barrels that Jefferson’s does at 100 Proof. It leads with sweet aroma of warm panatone. Then the sweet delectable taste of fruit and honey. A warm burning at the end. And the flavor of this nectar stays on your taste buds more than a couple of minutes. Best consumed relaxing and enjoying on a chilly winter day.
