This is a total beauty courtesy of Bodegas Riojanas in the heart of Rioja. They are particularly famous for their mastery of the Gran Reserva category, which requires a minimum of five years of aging (with at least two years in oak) before release. This is always amongst Spain’s finest Red wines, but especially in the 2018 vintage with this receiving a huge score and a placement amongst the Top 20 wines of the year from Wine Enthusiast who called out “Fresh herbs, mixed berries and plums, and a pleasing dusting of cocoa and earthiness through a long finish make this a statisfying wine.”
