One of the more notably names in whiskey, everything that has Michter’s on the label is always first class. This one is one of the most limited production items, which continues to further the legacy and tradition of America’s first whiskey variety (rye) from America’s first whiskey company (Michter’s, originally known as Shenk’s).
Made only in the best of years, the Limited Release Barrel Strength that I got my hands on comes in at an even 111 Proof and is a beaut. It’s oozing with seductive aromas of Cinnamon, rye spice, chocolate and freshly baked gingerbread. Cinnamon, dark chocolate, a hint of Cayenne pepper mixed with charred sugar and oak explode out of the bottle and greet you head on. Only six of these bottles to spread around. Whiskey lovers would be wise to scoop this one up.

Michter’s always provides some of the best value in American Whiskey and they never miss. This one is their best bang for the buck bottling that they make. This is so smooth and delicious, you would never know this is bottled at 84.8 Proof. This is a bit of a spicy number with those signature Rye peppery notes, butterscotch, creme brulee and a hint of toasted oak. One of my all-time favorite under $50 bottles.
This is the very first of its kind – a Reposado Rosa Single Barrel. Código has been working on a “Reposado Rosa” tequila project for the King of Country and wanted to age their juice in some crazy expensive wine barrels. Might as well get em from one of Napa’s very best. I can’t tell you the winery because they asked me not to but I can tell you that their bottles are on our wine list for north of $1,000 each. I managed to snag exactly one barrel away from the Hall of Famer- the only person who gets this exclusive Reposado. Super smooth with hints of vanilla, caramel, citrus & grilled pineapple. I’m the only one in the country who has this. Released just in time for Valentine’s Day – where a bottle of delicious pink Tequila with a bouquet of flowers sounds like a pretty great gift.
This one is too crazy. Three years and a pandemic ago after I picked the barrel I wanted from Corazon, my pick of the rare green label single barrel Corazon Reposado Tequila has arrived. Two great things. One: it’s absolutely delicious with a mix of citrus, lemongrass, honey, and light caramel with a hint of vanilla, some dried fruit and even a faint hint of espresso on the finish. Two: the pre-pandemic price. This one is a no brainer.
In terms of rare and unique bottles go, this Japanese Whisky is up there with anything in the spirits world. It’s a blended whisky finished in Sakura (cherry blossom) casks and Hibiki® 30 Year Old, a rare annual release that retails for $5000/btl. Hibiki is a gorgeous blend of ten various malt and grain whiskies from Suntory’s Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita distilleries. It’s super aptly named as all of these flavors and smells mesh together beautifully, with no shortage of flavors and aroma.
