One of the more notably names in whiskey, everything that has Michter’s on the label is always first class. This one is one of the most limited production items, which continues to further the legacy and tradition of America’s first whiskey variety (rye) from America’s first whiskey company (Michter’s, originally known as Shenk’s).
Made only in the best of years, the Limited Release Barrel Strength that I got my hands on comes in at an even 111 Proof and is a beaut. It’s oozing with seductive aromas of Cinnamon, rye spice, chocolate and freshly baked gingerbread. Cinnamon, dark chocolate, a hint of Cayenne pepper mixed with charred sugar and oak explode out of the bottle and greet you head on. Only six of these bottles to spread around. Whiskey lovers would be wise to scoop this one up.

Michter’s always provides some of the best value in American Whiskey and they never miss. This one is their best bang for the buck bottling that they make. This is so smooth and delicious, you would never know this is bottled at 84.8 Proof. This is a bit of a spicy number with those signature Rye peppery notes, butterscotch, creme brulee and a hint of toasted oak. One of my all-time favorite under $50 bottles.

Joseph Magnus is a big time name in the whiskey world. Bourbon people go nuts for it. For my money, the Murray Hill Club Bourbon is the most interesting one in the lot, a skillful blend that marries 18 and 11-year-old bourbon with 9-year-old light whiskey. It boasts rich notes of toasted oak, vanilla, butterscotch, honey and toffee with dried fruits, nutmeg and a peppery, spicy finish. This one was bottled at 103 Proof. Just a handful of bottles are up for grabs.
With their ninth installment, Whistle Pig’s Boss Hog keeps all five of their ‘Boss Hog’ promises and then some. It’s a super unique bottling as always – a Straight Rye Whiskey with two world’s first finishes. It was finished in barrels seasoned with Greek fig nectar and scratch tentura, a Greek style liqueur. It’s a single barrel bottled at proof between 102-107. For another nice touch, The Boss Hog IX features 9 unique designs, in the likeness of the 9 Muses, randomly distributed on bottles across the country.
This is a very rare single barrel Bourbon Whiskey to make its way to Jersey. Maple syrup, butterscotch, caramel & brown sugar with a palate of caramel apple, roasted almond, ripe banana and graham crackers. This one has a full mouthfeel with a nice creamy middle. The finish here lingers with just the right amount of burn. This was born on 2/3/2017 and bottled at 102 Proof. This is a great bottle of Whiskey.
