Marie Jacqueson is producing Burgundy that is nothing short of magical in the backwater of Rully, proving once again to really find value, you have to get off the rue nationale. The next one up is a 1er cru from the vineyard Préaux. The vines are old here, averaging 45 years. The soil is a classic mix of clay and limestone providing for intense aromatics of strawberry, black cherry, cinammon and roses. The fruit is almost crunchy; incredibly fresh, juicy, really flat-out delicious.

The 2019 Wentworth Anderson Valley Pinot Noir is a beauty. Made with 100% Estate Grown, organically farmed fruit from Wentworth’s noteworthy Anderson Valley vineyard. It’s made from a variety of different clones: Dijon 115, 667 and Pommard 5, that seamlessly blend to make an exciting, full-bodied Pinot. You can taste the extra flair courtesy of the 1/4 wholecluster fermentation. This is fresh and juicy and fantastic to pair with food.

2018 was a return to normal for Montalcino and a vintage that’s considered “classic”. Unsurpringly, it is Caprili who is once again the little guy making some of the biggest noise with a thunderous 96-point review from Wine Enthusiast’s long-time Italian expert, Kerin O’Keefe. She highlighted the wines’ “quintessential aromas of classically crafted Brunello” which she described as “dancing across the palate” then she concluded by calling the wine “elegant, delicious and already approachable.”

This is an exceptional premier cru offering from one of the most famous, most collected Burgundy producers. Clos des Porrets is a monopole, purchased by the Gouges family in 1933. Grégory claims it produces wine with the best potential of long aging within his range of wines. It has old vines rooted in pink limestone and rich clay, producing dynamite Nuits Saint Georges. Aromatically complex, with violets, black cherries and a touch of Burgundian earth. This is truly extraordinary red Burgundy, an epic wine of power with finesse and just amazing potential.
