Very modern and intense with captivating black pepper, wild herb and violet aromas. Powerful and energetic with some chalky tannins and searing fresh acidity. Really really classy. Offers a lot within the price band.
The Monastrell I bring you today is courtesy of Andres Bastida. Andres spent 40 years in the concentrated bulk wine industry, travelling all over the region, buying grapes form the best producers. The man knows the region better than anyone alive, and has a zillion relationships to show for it.
A few years ago, he decided to stop buying and start making – fulfilling a lifelong dream of producing some of the best wines in Jumilla. The man spent decades studying. Everything he does is by the book: low yields, dry-farmed vineyards, old vines that suffer and dig deep to create something extraordinary.
