Domaine Serene Yamhill Cuvee Pinot Noir 2019

94 Points, James Suckling – 93 Points, Parker’s Wine Advocate

The insider secret that most people don’t know? 3/5ths of this Yamhill Cuvee comes from the same vineyards that produce their flagship Evenstad Reserve – a wine that has multiple times landed in Wine Spectator’s Top 50. You’re getting a lot of that same fruit at a fraction of the price.

Both James Suckling (94 points) and Parker’s Wine Advocate (93 points) fell hard for this wine. They raved about its pure fruit expression – think strawberry, cherry, pomegranate and rhubarb – along with its silky texture, fine tannins, and that complex earthiness that makes Oregon Pinot Noir unlike anywhere else in the world. This has it all – approachability and elegance, with a vibrant, silky texture that makes it perfect for drinking now or cellaring for at least a few years.

94 Points, James Suckling
Sweet strawberry and cherry with some hibiscus. Medium-bodied with orange peel and fine tannins. Fresh finish. Juicy undertone. Extremely well done for 2019. Drinkable now, but better in a year or two.

93 Points, Parker’s Wine Advocate
The 2019 Pinot Noir Yamhill Cuvee has a medium ruby color and is bursting with pure scents of pomegranate, rhubarb and cranberry with accents of woodsmoke, tobacco leaves, earth and mossy bark. The light-bodied palate offers restrained, earthy fruit, a soft, juicy structure and long, spicy finish. This is very easy to drink!

Ken and Grace Evenstad founded Domaine Serene Vineyards and Winery in 1989 when they purchased 42 acres of just-logged land in the Dundee Hills of Oregon and built a five-level, gravity flow winery to produce ultra-premium Pinot Noir. From there, they began an empire.

Today, Domaine Serene produces wines from six individual vineyard estates in the Willamette Valley planted exclusively to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Each estate offers a diversity of soils, clones, rootstocks, microclimates, slopes, and elevations that add distinguishing complexity and elegance to the wines.

The Evenstads now own over 1,000 acres in total, more than 360 of which are planted to vine in three AVAs of the Willamette Valley and are actively preserving Oregon White Oak trees and the biodiversity of the region. They have achieved LIVE certification, the highest certification in the world for sustainable viticulture. Domaine Serene’s wines have won many accolades and awards, including 250+ wines scoring 90 points or higher by Wine Spectator.
