California’s newest AVA, the West Sonoma Coast faired better than virtually every other California AVA in a vintage that saw extreme heat spikes. The coast and its high-altitude made for some gorgeous, aromatic and concentrated wines. Both of these are delicious right out of the gate. The Chardonnay is tightly wound, with bright lemon and granny smith apple set upon a creamy structure. The Pinot is equally tight with bright ripe strawberry, bing cherry, and a bit of spice.
Each mixed six-pack includes 3 btls each of the following:

-2022 Flowers Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast (93 pts, JD, 93 pts, JS – 93 pts, WE)

-2023 Flowers Chardonnay Sonoma Coast (93 pts, WS)

2022 Flowers Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
93 Points, James Suckling
A fresh yet structured pinot with dried strawberry, orange peel and light caramel with dried stems. Medium body, flavorful, firm and bright at the end. Savory.

93 Points, Wine Enthusiast
Aromas of sweet berries, cherry liqueur and cola dominate the nose of this Pinot, while the palate is loaded with cedar cigar box, coffee and maraschino cherry. The combination of freshness and grip feels very alluring, but it might need a few years to round into form.

93 Points, Jeb Dunnuck
Ripe ruby/red in color, the 2022 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is ripe and spicy, with aromas of cherries, cinnamon, beet root, and incense. Medium-bodied, it has a weightless feel, a chalky, fine-grained texture, and a spicy finish with notes of gravelly earth.

2023 Flowers Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
93 Points, Wine Spectator
This distinctive white features a lively, mouthwatering and energetic mix of pomelo, yuzu and lemon sherbet flavors, with hints of sweetgrass, apple blossoms and lime zest. There’s also an appealing grip on the finish.

Flowers Vineyards and Winery is a few different things. It’s one of the pioneers in the Sonoma Coast for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, a top 10 most popular restaurant brand in the country, an absolute critic darling and easily one of the most beautiful places on planet earth. Seriously, look at the pictures– I dare you to find more beautiful vineyards anywhere.

When they first were starting out almost 30 years ago, Joan and Walt Flowers had a simple goal: to make exceptional wine that captures the wild beauty of the land and the spirit of the Sonoma Coast. Needless to say, they’ve accomplished all that and more.
