The 2015 Emmolo Sauvignon Blanc is a gem. It’s incredibly bright, lively and crisp especially considering it has some age– but I know I shouldn’t be surprised since it is the Caymus Family we’re talking about. Chuck Wagner’s daughter Jenny crafted a beautiful Sauvignon Blanc off two Caymus owned vineyard sites in Napa that give off the Marlborough-like nose of tropical and citrus fruits with an herbaceous finish that is both delicate and well-balanced. Offered originally for $28 on the Caymus Family website, the lowest price online for the 2015 vintage was $25/btl.. until today. Just $18. No further discounts apply!

Every year, Pierre Sparr’s Alsacian Riesling is one of the top scoring wines in the under $20 category. There’s a consistency there and consumers know they can count on a Riesling that is aromatic, fruity, elegant, clean and vibrant. Pierre Sparr wines are extremely food-friendly especially in the widely praised 2021 vintage where quality rose to an all-time high. It’s a bone-dry beauty with layers of citrus fruits, framed by wet stone and mineral character that adds dimension.
92 Points (Best Buy), Wine Enthusiast – 90 Points, James Suckling
The winery could never expected their Tuscan Vermentino would become as integral as it has – even 25 years later, it’s still a key piece of the puzzle for Campo Maccione. It’s an unassuming wine with great viscosity and bright, savory flavors that way overdelivers for the price. James Suckling agreed, as did Wine Enthusiast. Suckling gave it a 90 and deemed it “an interesting take on Tuscan Vermentino.” Wine Enthusiast took it up a few notches, attaching a coveted ‘Best Buy’ designate to the wine along with a 92-point review for the wine “with a sophisticated restraint.”
From just west of Sancerre, Vincent’s vines are tended organically in flint-laden, calcareous soil which lends a great brightness to the wine. The wine is crisp and aromatic Sauvignon, and is a superb choice for a “cocktail” wine, as an aperitif or to accompany just about anything from sea.
This is a special wine from a small and incredibly hardworking family producer. The wine is drawn off a 0.26-hectare parcel of roughly 45-year old vines in the lieu dit ‘Les Vireux’ which borders its very expensive neighbor, Meursault lieu dit Les Vireuils. The east facing slope and shallow stony soils of this parcel account for a gorgeous and rich expression with juicy and bright lemon-lime and white peach flavors that carry through a long, intensely mineral finish.
