From the first time I visited with Romain Reverdy in Verdigny, I’ve been blown away by this young star who is undoubtedly one of the most promising young vignerons of the appellation. It’s incredible how he shows off the rich fruit intensity and power of each vintage with bursting stone fruits that come in waves and show the complexity as well.
The vineyards there are mostly rooted in “Caillotes” (small limestone pebbles and rocks with compacted chalky marl) and “Terres Blanches” (Kimmeridgian marl) and with a very small amount of silex (flint).
The whites are precise with a certain softness, but with very tight structure that, stylistically—of recent—are reminiscent of the great Sancerre of the 80’s. But the Rose has been a really special surprise. It’s ageworthy, it’s complex and it’s food friendly. And it really shines through with its pure red berry and citrus fruit
