Dom Perignon Luminous Collection Rose Millesime 2009

98 Pts, Vinous 97 Pts, James Suckling – 96 Pts, Wine Spectator

“The 2009 Dom Pérignon Rosé marks a return to a richer style of Rosé following the more ethereal 2008 Rosé. Sweet red cherry, blood orange, spice and pomegranate all build in a creamy, sensual DP Rosé that hits all the right spots. Over the last few years, Chef de Caves Vincent Chaperon and his team have lowered the still Pinot portion of the Rosé down to about 10% from a high of 28% or so, reached around 2004 and 2005. In 2009, the Rosé gains considerable textural presence from the generosity of the year. It is a superb Champagne.”

Peaches, fresh crushed strawberries and roses on the nose. Full-bodied and generous. Fine tannins that frame the wine beautifully and set it up for a fresh finish. Some fruit tea and cedar undertones. Enticing finish with hints of bitterness. Savory.

96 Points, Wine Spectator
A lovely rosé Champagne that waltzes gracefully across the palate, belying the concentrated range of macerated raspberry and strawberry, candied blood orange peel, toast and saffron notes carried on the elegant, satiny mousse. Long and fresh, with minerally smoke and oyster shell accents on the focused finish. Drink now through 2035.

One of the most famous bottles in the world and one synonymous for excellence. For my money, I don’t think there’s a better bottle of Champagne year in, year out than Dom.

Dom Pérignon was an administrator of the Abbaye d’Hautvillers in 1668. For nearly 50 years, he dedicated himself to creating “the best wine in the world. ” Dom Pérignon’s creative ambition is a constant quest for harmony as a source of emotion. Today, his legacy lives on as Dom Pérignon remains one of the most famous, luxurious names in all of wine.

How many wines are you drinking that glow in the dark?!?

This bottle as part of the Luminous Series was made with nighttime celebrations in mind, so it actually has a small switch at the bottom and when turned on, the label emits a flowing luminescence that lasts for around 8 to 10 hours. Don’t think this is just a gimmick though – far from it. The juice here is still outstanding – Galloni gave it 98 points and called it a “sensual DP Rosé that hits all the right spots”
