Craggy Range Pinot Noir Martinborough 2016

Categories , ,

In 2014, Craggy Range was awarded by Wine Enthusiast Magazine as “The New World Winery of the Year” after finishing as runner-up to Australia’s Penfolds the year before. And it certainly hasn’t stopped there. Craggy Range was recently recognized on the Inaugural list of “Best Vineyards in the World” as chosen by over 500 wine and travel experts in the #11 spot.

Today’s Martinborough Pinot Noir features cherry-picked blocks off of the immaculate Te Muna Road vineyard – now a world renown travel destination in addition to a top flight winery. Seriously impressive for any Pinot coming close to this price, the critics have been quick to praise. Two 92 point scores and a Wine Spectator “Smart Buy”.

With the wine already sold out at the winery, we have just 20 cases up for grabs (while they last!).

92 Points, Wine Spectator

Firm and distinctive, with a muscular tannic backbone that adds some appealing tension to the dark spiced plum and tobacco notes. An edge of acidity keeps the flavors energetic and lively. Drink now through 2023.

92 Points, James Suckling

An attractive, fresh and alluring pinot noir that has plenty of forthright ripe cherry and plum fruit aromas and flavors. Assertive but charming on the palate. Neat wine. Drink now.

Craggy Range Winery is super hot. They were Wine Enthusiast’s “New World Winery of the Year” in 2014 after finishing as runner-up the year before and this past year, they were recognized on the Inaugural list of “Best Vineyards in the World” in the #11 spot! Their 2016 Estate Pinot Noir gives clues as to why they can do no wrong. It’s a complex, intricately woven Pinot Noir dressed in an every day price-tag.
