Chateau d’Estoublon Roseblood Rose 2024

90 Points, Wine Spectator

Growing at elevations between 1,100-1,600 feet, the vines benefit from the region’s distinctive red earth soils with pockets of flint and gravel, contributing to the wine’s remarkable balance of expression, freshness and roundness.

The blend itself is quintessentially Provençal: 65% Grenache for roundness and delicacy, 15% Syrah for power and color, 15% Cinsault for finesse and fruity notes, and 5% Rolle (Vermentino) for tension, freshness, and floral aromatics. Wine Spectator noted its “vibrant energy from start to finish” with a “saline mineral foundation offsetting the creamy fruit.”

90 Points, Wine Spectator
A fragrant, floral rosé, with a burst of watermelon and strawberry lemonade notes. Maintains vibrant energy from start to finish, with a saline mineral foundation offsetting the creamy fruit. Balanced and delicious, showing a waft of smoke on the well-meshed finish. Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Rolle

Nothing about this is an ordinary Provence Rose project.

What makes this rosé truly special is the extraordinary team behind it. Château d’Estoublon dates back to 1489, but its current ownership reads like a who’s who of French excellence: former president Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni, alongside the Courbit Family and the Prats Family (previous owners of the legendary Château Cos d’Estournel). This all-star cast has transformed this historic estate into a powerhouse of luxury, recently winning “Best in the World” for their olive oil in both 2022 and 2023. That’s how they got to be one of the 93 members of the French committee of leading luxury brands, along with Hermès, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Cartier and others.

The winemaking here is equally impressive, with technical director Anais Maillet (formerly of Château Lafon-Rochet and Terrazas de los Andes) crafting this elegant blend from organically farmed vineyards in Coteaux Varois en Provence. Growing at elevations between 1,100-1,600 feet, the vines benefit from the region’s distinctive red earth soils with pockets of flint and gravel, contributing to the wine’s remarkable balance of expression, freshness and roundness.
