In the glass, this one shows a pale salmon color with reddish hues with fragrant aromas of wild strawberries, red currant, and white peach, accented by delicate hints of rose petals and crushed chalk. The palate is both vibrant and dense, offering bright citrus, with what I’d describe as a cherry/strawberry creamsicle middle, with a distinctive minerality and good natural acidity that helps carry this one through to the clean, lingering finish.

This wine wants to show you what a serious, mature rosé can be. The orange-hued wine opens with a complex nose of nectarine, stewed apples, orange marmalade, honeysuckle and dried apricot. Rich and creamy in texture, the wine boasts well-integrated fruit kissed by golden-apple and strawberry puree. Serve with a cheese plate or enjoy by itself.

What makes this wine so exceptional? For starters, it’s made from 100% Pinot Noir – a grape that’s relatively rare in Sancerre because it’s much harder to farm and lower-yielding than Sauvignon Blanc. Growing Pinot in Sancerre is a true labor of love.

The Cave de Sancerre blends multiple vintages together – a technique borrowed from the world’s finest Champagne houses – to build remarkable complexity and ensure a consistent house style.
