The newest Voyage from the Wagner family has arrived (after a long hiatus) and I can report that it’s another fantastic rendition of a wine that is making quite a name for itself. This one was worth the wait. It’s classic Caymus style– big, juicy and fruit-forward and perfect dinner company for grilled meat.
With some of the best Malbec grapes from the highest appellations of the Andes Mountains, the Wagner family brings the fruit back to their state of the art facility in Napa and then finish it in the same style as their flagship Special Selection Cabernet (that runs for $245/btl now). That’s probably why this wine is of the “no-brainer” variety.
I don’t quite know what makes these wines so popular, but getting the Voyage from the Wagners hasn’t been an easy task. In fact, the 10 cases I just got are the only ones that were available at the moment.
