91 Points, Wine Enthusiast
This one is simply way too stinking good for the price tag. In the 97pt Left Bank vintage in Bordeaux, this Baby Graves stands out as an exceptional value. It shows tremendous energy with bright, ripe fruit right up front along with the backbone to continue to gracefully age if you have a few years of patience. A beautifully well-balanced ready to drink Bordeaux at an unbeatable price.
Who says you can’t teach a seasoned winemaking master new tricks? Herve Fabre for the first time ever adds a Rose of Malbec to his impressive arsenal. It’s a great wine– with a standout vibrant ruby/pink color, inviting aromas of strawberries and raspberries with hints of citrus. This is a crisp, well-balanced wine that is a wonderful expression of the varietal and the winemaker, a ton of fun to pair with food . Haven’t had many Roses like it. It’s a really cool wine that if you’re a fan of Herve’s you’re going to love.
91 Pts, Decanter Wine Awards
It’s hard to imagine a wine that delivers more bang for your buck and consistency than what Herve Fabre is able to produce from his 100+ year old vines each vintage. Last year, his Malbec Reserva landed on Wine Enthusiast’s Top 100 Buys of the Year. Tasted last week, I expect similar accolades will roll in soon for this one. It’s a big, full-bodied Malbec with The 2018 Reserve Malbec from the heart of Mendoza is garnet in color with inviting aromas of raspberry pie, sage, herbs and roasted mushrooms. This is a wine that pairs perfectly with some cooler weather.
Each year their Historico Tinto Blend represents Catena’s best value Red, garnering big scores (94 points last vintage from James Suckling) despite an extremely modest price tag. But this year, I decided not to wait around, secured my allocation before the big scores came in, got a discount for securing it early and decided to go out at my lowest price ever on this great wine. The brand new 2019 Catena Zapata Historico Blend was released by the winery for $30/bottle and can be found by big wine outlets such as wine.com for $22/bottle. But if you want a better price on this outrageously good, mountain fruited Malbec dominant blend, today I’ve got you covered.
