I have been very selective in the Prosecco Roses I’ve offered up to this point – just one- and it was Lettie Teague’s #1 out of 14 tasted from her report last year in the Wall Street Journal. Only the best for you guys.
Of course, that wine, the Bisol Jeio, is available in the store. But this newest release certainly gives that one a run for the roses, if you will.
A sexy package with a great label leads you off before you’re swooned by a mix of citrus, white peach, and turkish apricots. On the palate, you’re hit with a refreshing sweet and sour combination with incredibly tiny, salty bubbles. This one is a beauty – the definition of a crowd pleaser.
Vinous Media got a hold of it and gave it their highest rating for the category of the vintage, a 91-point score for a wine they deemed, “incredibly pretty and highly likable”. This is going to be the go-to for Melissa this year, I can already tell. If you love bubbles, refreshing pink wines, porch pounders, pool sippers, whatever you call these babies, this one is 100% for you.
92 Points, James Suckling
Tucked between the towns of Montalcino and Montepulciano is the historic Sangiovese region called Vino Nobile di Montepulciano – a region famous for supplying wine to the Italian nobility. Of course, the name is often confused with the grape Montepulciano which is found in Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. The result of the confusion is some of the best Sangiovese in the world at far under normal market prices. This is the best Sangiovese deal of the year. A total steal.
95 Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
“Paolo De Marchi sold off any finished wine that did not live up to his standards and picked the very best results for this edition. Production this vintage is down by almost a quarter. This is a beauty. It flaunts a deep, dark appearance with succulent fruit, savory spice, leather and grilled herb. The oak element needs additional time to integrate and it surely will as the wine continues its slow bottle evolution. Only a third of the blend is aged in new oak. This upcoming Cepparello is a wine of substance and distinction.” – The Wine Advocate
Fresh off a huge feature in The Wall Street Journal in which they were crowned as the top Prosecco Rose in a lineup of 14, I suspect what was once our little secret will explode. James Suckling also finally got around to tasting it and gave it 91 points. I’d rate it even higher. The 2020 Bisol Jeio Brut Prosecco Rosé is remarkable, and simply put, mouth-wateringly delicious. Inviting aromas of flowers and wild strawberries, with a complex mouthfeel that sings with citrus fruits and creaminess from the tiny crisp bubbles.
