Bele Casel makes lights-out Prosecco and has been doing it better than almost anyone else for a long time. When I opened the doors at Restaurant Nicholas – I had exactly one Prosecco on my wine list… and you better believe it came from these guys.
Of course back in those days (don’t remind me how long it’s been) the category wasn’t nearly as popular as it is now. Now there’s an ocean of Prosecco. But a lot of them are too sweet or flabby and don’t offer the same great value they once did.
That is most definitely not true of Bele Casel. In fact, if anything, their excellence sticks out even more with so many mediocre bottles to go round.
Eric Guido of Vinous just reviewed a number of Bele Casel wines last week and lobbed heaps of praise for each and every one of them.

The NV Extra Dry Prosecco Superiore enchants with its sweetly scented blend of sweet flowers, confectioners sugar and tropical melon. It engulfs the palate with silken bubbles, creating an undeniable elegance while contrasting ripe orchard fruits with hints of candied citrus. A Chalky staining of minerality and pretty inner florals resonate, as this finishes with amazing length and freshness. This is an excellent entry into the Extra Dry category.
Bele Casel is an excellent wine for an aperitif. It’s dry, crisp and light which means it’s a perfect match for almost any food pairing and also fabulous to enjoy on its own.

Bele Casel is great with Prosciutto and other dried meats, stuffed mushrooms, creamy sauces, seafood and fried food!
The 2022 Brunori ‘Le Gemme’ Verdichio is everything you’re looking for in a vibrant, food-friendly white wine. About a billion times better than every-day Pinot Grigio, the Brunori is an electric, vibrant white which combines delicious fruit and vibrancy with boasts a killer nose of white peach, honeycomb and almonds. The fruit is wonderfully concentrated with a salty, stony finish that goes forever. The best part of this beauty is that it’s absolutely delicious year round.
Fresh off a huge feature in The Wall Street Journal in which they were crowned as the top Prosecco Rose in a lineup of 14, I suspect what was once our little secret will explode. James Suckling also finally got around to tasting it and gave it 91 points. I’d rate it even higher. The 2021 Bisol Jeio Brut Prosecco Rosé is remarkable, and simply put, mouth-wateringly delicious. Inviting aromas of flowers and wild strawberries, with a complex mouthfeel that sings with citrus fruits and creaminess from the tiny crisp bubbles.

Feudo Montoni has been one of the best producers in Italy for literally hundreds of years, most notably for their work with Nero D’Avola grape in Sicily. It’s a gorgeous expression at such a good price. The 2020 “Lagnusa” is the perfect pizza or Thanksgiving wine with juicy black fruits, grippy tannins and a wonderful, fresh and herbaceous finish. Vinous Media gave the wine 92 points and raved, calling it “remarkably fresh yet long, leaving the mouth watering while still resonating on hints of blackberry.” You’re going to love this.

“The 50% Moscato Bianco, 50% Brachetto is one of the most distinctive sweet wines in all of Italy. Exotic floral and spice accents soar out of the glass. Rose petal, mint, sage, dried herbs and hard candy play off bright acids and an overall feeling of crystalline energy.” -Antonio Galloni
