94 Points, James Suckling
This one has always been my go-to for entertaining – I just hand everyone a glass upon arrival. The new batch of 2019 Barmes Cremant has just landed featuring a lot of freshness and energy, with a beautiful nose of green apple and Anjou pear with tinges of honey, white nuts and white flowers. The fruit is near perfect, richly concentrated with a creamy texture. The finish is endless, with the tiniest of bubbles, with a zippy acidity that makes it perfect with seafood.

Every year, Pierre Sparr’s Alsacian Riesling is one of the top scoring wines in the under $20 category. There’s a consistency there and consumers know they can count on a Riesling that is aromatic, fruity, elegant, clean and vibrant. Pierre Sparr wines are extremely food-friendly especially in the highly-regarded 2020 vintage where yields were down but quality rose to an all-time high. It’s a bone-dry beauty with layers of citrus fruits, framed by wet stone and mineral character that adds dimension.
92 Points, James Suckling
The 2019 is textbook Alsatian Riesling – made in the Trimbach house style – namely completely dry. While James Suckling, in his 92 point review, exclaims “Bring on the Oysters,” the reason we featured these wines so prominently at Jean-Georges is because of how the flavors highlight so many flavor combinations. This one hits all the notes and absolutely sings at this special price.
