Buehler winemaker, Dave Cronin spent nine years at Far Niente perfecting both Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay in particular. For the latter, he heads to Russian River Valley each vintage, the perfect climate for a delicious, minerally California chardonnay.
The 2016 Bueheler Russian River Chardonnay is packed with stone fruits, and mango jam an a touch of oak at the end. The finish is long and smooth and a for an under-$20 chardonnay from the Russian River this good, you grab a few bottles and ask as little questions as possible.

Just in time, we got back Vincent Ricard’s all-time great white wine bargain. This is a crisp, clean and flat out delicious Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc. The protege to the Silex-style of Dagueneau – who over the last 15 years has produced flawless and beloved white wines that at last count were on the wine lists of over 36 Michelin-starred restaurants. This is a great house white and one that can surely hold its own with just about everything on the table.
Top notch Chenin grown on a biodynamically farmed parcel of gravel over limestone and flint. Vinified dry in steel with no wood aging. From the glass, complex Aromas of Anjou pear, citron, white flowers and cream soar with just a touch of jasmine and honey. On the palate, the wine is rich yet still bone dry with a vibrant core of peach and pear fruits and a fresh crackling of saline and minerality. The zipped up acidity makes this wine both fantastic at the table and a great candidate for aging.
A large glass is necessary to capture the brilliant aromatics of Talmard’s Macon Uchizy. Aromas of ripe Meyer lemon, peach, honey and mint just blast from the glass upon pouring. The wine takes on weight with aeration, developing flavors of crisp green apple, juicy peach and lemon custard. The finish is long and fresh, so good with food. Roast some salmon, make sweet corn risotto, use it as an aperitif, it’s a great choice for a spring/summer-house white wine.
The Bernard Reverdy Sancerre Blanc 2022 is tightly wound, opening slowly with a complex nose of citrus, chalk and white flowers. With air, higher tones emerge, with a great mingling of ripe fruit, and stony minerality. Medium-bodied, fresh and focused on the palate, with concise limestone-drive acidity, this is an elegant, lively, and energetic Sancerre that mirrors the warm vintage but also the old vines rooting deep in stony soils. What a great persistent finish filled with tension, this is a classic Sancerre that goes best with shellfish, freshly caught fish and or some goat cheeses.
