The nose is fresh, cool and balanced, with aromas of tart blackberries, wild cherries, top soil, pepper, graphite and violets. On the palate, the blackberries ripen but stay tart, while those sophisticated, bitter earth tones contrast nicely. Substantial yet refined tannins provide structure, and lithe acid brings a bolt of energy.
The estate sits in Colline Teramane, Abruzzo’s first DOCG, just six miles from the Adriatic Sea. Heirloom vines planted in clay and limestone, hot days tempered by cool evenings off the coast. The kind of terroir that produces wines with real character.
Elena and Alessandro Nicodemi run the winery now. They left their careers in Rome to take over after their father Bruno passed away. Their philosophy: let Nature guide you, and wine becomes the mirror of the land and the soul of its maker. You can taste that in every bottle.
