Domaine Gasnier Chinon Les Graves 2023

Categories , ,

Lately, this Chateau has been on an absolute tear, earning some huge 90+ scores in the last couple of vintages. When Parker’s Wine Advocate gets a hold of this one, I expect the trend to continue. The newly released 2023 Les Graves comes from 40-year-old vines that grow on gravelly, siliceous-clay hillsides. This is an ideal place to grow crunchy meaningful, vibrant Cabernet fruit that comes out as pure and expressive as you can imagine especially in its youth. There’s so much elegance and depth here despite a modest price tag – no doubt a wine that can play nicely with a lot of different cuisine, but especially red meat. This is vibrant, fresh and ready to go. A Cabernet Franc value worth celebrating.

Original price was: $24.00.Current price is: $19.95.

The estate of Domaine Gasnier is comprised of 25 hectares, all within the commune of Cravant-les-Coteaux. The Gasniers employ biodynamic techniques in farming, no pesticides or herbicides. The newly released 2019 is a beautiful bright and fruity wine, redolent of cedar and fresh red fruit. The wine is vinified in tank to maintain that pristine fruit.

In what appears to be the makings of a great 2023 vintage in the Loire, Gasnier’s Chinon (100% Cabernet Franc) Les Graves is a particular standout and one of the absolute best red wine values you can find anywhere in the Loire Valley. For now, it remains a little bit of a well-kept secret. For an under $25 Loire Valley red, this one couldn’t possibly deliver any more. It’s a perfect wine for a Thanksgiving feast and/or the colder months ahead.
