Brotte Bord Elegance Laudun Cotes du Rhone Blanc 2025

Wine Enthusiast’s #4 Best Buy of the Year (2026 Top 100)

94 Points (Best Buy), Wine Enthusiast – 91 Points, James Suckling

I had it last week at a lunch tasting and I’m happy to report the critics got this one right. It’s a racy, crisp white with great natural acidity, but then the mid-palate shows up with a beautiful tropical creaminess you don’t expect from something this fresh. Medium weight with great energy, this beauty finishes with a salty, steely minerality that keeps pulling you back to the glass.

Think about what Thanksgiving dinner actually looks like. Rich, buttery, salty, savory, and a lot of it. You need a white with enough acidity to cut through it all, enough body to hold its own against the stuffing, and enough personality that people ask what they’re drinking. This one does all three. It’s a beautiful traditional blend of 70% Grenache Blanc, 15% Clairette, 10% Viognier and 5% Roussanne, with Viognier and Roussanne the pair behind that tropical creaminess while the Grenache Blanc and Clairette keep everything tight and bright.

“Fresh and commanding on the nose, where ripe orchard fruit and minerality are balanced by heady white rose and bergamot in a truly singular expression. The palate is divine, where salinity rides a wave of mouthwatering acidity weaving white peach, white rose, and spice into something captivating. A second bottle alongside lobster armoricaine is strongly advised.”

91 Points, James Suckling
“Round, juicy and delicious, with aromas of apples, white peaches and some warm spices. Medium-bodied with fresh acidity. Attractive sweet lemon flavors on the palate, with a fresh finish.”

Brotte has been making wine in Châteauneuf-du-Pape since 1931, five generations of the same family. They know the varietals in this region as well as anyone in the southern Rhône, and much of their wine matures in 100-year-old large oak barrels. That kind of experience and skill shows up in a big way with a stellar white wine at a far too cheap price. Don’t worry – I won’t tell if you won’t tell!
