Each Black Friday Whiskey Trio includes:
Knob Creek Nicholas Single Barrel Reserve #4 Rye Whiskey:
I am one of the few that is lucky enough to be invited down to taste the barrels before they are blended. It’s pretty crazy they let me walk out of there with the best barrel I can find in the bunch, but that’s what I mean about the gift of Beam. Each year I grab a barrel of bourbon but the barrel that I really go down there to get is the Rye.
A single barrel of Rye is super rare (and getting more rare by the minute). I found this last one on the 6th floor of Rickhouse L. She was born on April 4th, 2016. How could a single barrel of rye that is 7 years old & bottled at 115 proof be under $60?? For so long it didn’t seem possible and that’s probably why this will be the last of its kind.
Piggy Back Nicholas Single Barrel #3 Small Batch 6-Year Rye:
This is our first-ever private single barrel of Whistle Pig Piggy Back that comes 100% from Vermont. It’s our third barrel to date with the famed distillery. This barrel was born on the farm six years ago so it’s amongst the last barrels David Pickerell put his hands on.
Nose of freshly baked pumpernickel bread, butterscotch and toffee.
On the palate: Citrus & peach with a touch of lavender & dark cherry.
Finish-Strong & long with spicy dried fruits and caramel notes that linger.
Age: 6 Years
Proof: 108.9 (54.45% alc.)
Knob Creek Nicholas Single Barrel Reserve #5 Bourbon Whiskey:
This year, it only took 14 samples before one just hit me like a ton of bricks. When you say “WHOA” – you know that’s the one. This baby came from Warehouse 1 on Floor 5 and Rick 32. She was born on December 12th, 2013 and was just bottled exclusively for the Bourbon Buyers Club. The juice is sensational.
