You had to know that for the 10th installment of Boss Hog that WhistlePig was going to go above and beyond. You can bet that they did just that. A major thing that separates WhistlePig from the others, is their Boss Hog bottlings. Not a given as an annual occurrence, Dave always said that the only way he would do a ‘Boss Hog’ bottling at WhistlePig was if his “five promises” were kept. But for the 10th installment, the team at WhistlePig added five more so that the ‘five promises’ are now the 10 commandments! Those commandments are as follows:
This is a pretty incredible bottling – a Straight Rye Whiskey with a double finish. Each barrel of Whiskey is aged in new American Oak before completing its journey in two unorthodox finishing barrels.
The first is seasoned with an experimental in-house spirit – distilled from rye and whey, infused with aromatic resins from the genera commonly known as Frankincense and Myrrh – delivering notes of creme brulee, lemongrass and rosemary to the final whiskey.
The second and final finish is aged in craft mead casks, offering a mellow, round-bodied finish with hints of red berries and freshly crushed black pepper.
Unsurprisingly, the hype around this one is insane. Collectors are going crazy. Unfortunately, these have become such popular limited releases, it seems like folks always get shut out. I only got half of what I usually get (I’m hoping that’ll be fixed on the 2nd drop). DO NOT WAIT if you think this is one of those bottles you need to have.

The third release of three batches from Booker’s Bourbon 2023 Collection is Booker’s Batch 2023-03 ‘Might Fine Batch.’ These mini-releases have become extremely popular, and for good reason. “The vanilla and brown sugar sweet notes come through very well from the white oak barrels this bourbon aged in for over seven years. The taste is great and full bodied; when I added a splash of water, it opened up some great flavors, with a finish that gives a lovely “Kentucky Hug. My Dad would say that this is a Mighty Fine batch of Booker’s.” -Fred Noe

Michter’s always provides some of the best value in American Whiskey and they never miss. This one is their best bang for the buck bottling that they make. This is so smooth and delicious, you would never know this is bottled at 84.8 Proof. This is a bit of a spicy number with those signature Rye peppery notes, butterscotch, creme brulee and a hint of toasted oak. One of my all-time favorite under $50 bottles.
A new High West release is always met with a ton of anticipation, but if you’re a fan of the Cabernet Cask finishes on Bourbons and Tequilas like I am, then this one is 100% right up your alley. The aromas absolutely drip out of the bottle—a mix of cherries, oranges, and chocolate dance on the tongue, followed by some nuttiness intertwined with a hint of the used Cabernet barrel. It’s got some spice to it, a little hickory smoke, and some dark cocoa notes at the end that keep you coming back over and over again.

This champagne is so good, it’s often a staple on the wine lists of Michelin two and three star restaurants. It offers elegant aromatics, pristine fruit and the crisp, mineral finish that screams for food. We loved it so much, we asked Jacques Diebolt to bottle a special cuveé for the restaurant– and he happily agreed!
