They’re full-bodied, fresh, and incredibly expressive, yet perfectly integrated and balanced, no doubt the result of a winemaking facility unlike any other and a team of winemakers that know exactly how to handle each vintage.
Trefethen’s 2022 Oak Knoll Cabernet is fantastic. Dollar for dollar, I have it up there with the best of the vintage. It’s dark and brooding with seductive aromas of black cherry, plum, lavender, and creme de cassis with a hint of dark chocolate. There are some noticeably smooth and lengthy tannins to this, with some great weight too. It’s a big ol’ Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that can dance!

Janet & John Trefethen have been at it in Oak Knoll since 1973 when they restored the original Trefethen winery that was established in 1886. This isn’t some fluke winery winning ‘Best in Show’ awards. Trefethen is iconic in the Napa Valley as one of the largest estate wineries as well as the only wooden gravity-flow winery in the entire region.
