The results speak for themselves. Vinous awarded the 2019 Chianti Classico 94 points, calling it “one of the most impressive wines of the year” with “captivating aromatic presence” and “soaring floral and spice notes.” Parker’s Wine Advocate gave it 91 points, calling it “a terrific expression from Tuscany with a contemporary flair.”

What makes this wine special isn’t just the scores – it’s the philosophy. From their 28 hectares, only 10 are dedicated to Sangiovese, planted on south and southwest-facing stony vineyards between 370-490 meters elevation. The diurnal temperature swings and galestro-rich soil create the perfect conditions for wines of “beautiful elegance and longevity.”

94 Points, Vinous
The 2019 Chianti Classico is a real stand-out. Bright and effusive, with captivating aromatic presence, the 2019 is superimpressive. Soaring floral and spice notes lend brilliance to this layered, vibrant Chianti Classico. All the elements are so well balanced. This is one of the most impressive wines of the year.

91 Points, Parker’s Wine Advocate
Here’s a terrific expression from Tuscany, a wine with a contemporary flare. With small percentages of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon in this otherwise Sangiovese-based wine, the Tenuta Casenuove 2019 Chianti Classico flaunts bright cherry and bold fruit definition. It is intermingled with wild bramble that reflects the landscape of Panzano in Chianti with its pretty mix of vineyards and forests. Hints of smoke and scorched earth fill in the rear.

91 Points, James Suckling
A very attractive Chianti Classico with cherry and berry character and hints of fine tannins. Medium body. Fresh finish. Drink now.

In 2015, Philippe Austruy – the guy who owns Château Malescasse in Bordeaux quietly purchased a historic 17th-century estate in one of Italy’s most coveted locations: Panzano’s legendary Conca d’Oro, the “Golden Bowl” amphitheater that’s considered one of the finest grape-growing areas in all of Italy.

Most people have never heard of Tenuta Casenuove. That’s exactly why this represents such an incredible opportunity.

Austruy didn’t mess around. He immediately hired renowned agronomist Alessandro Fonseca as his director, who then assembled the best team money could buy, including enologist Cosimo Casini and cellar master Maria Sole Zoli – Tuscan natives who brought their world-class experience back home.
