The seventh generation of Ogier winemakers in Cote Rotie, Stephane has a distinct advantage over virtually all competition with access to his family’s land throughout Cote Rotie’s most cherished vineyards in Lancement, Côte-Rozier, and La Viallière. But just because he was given a leg up doesn’t make him a good winemaker… but making a few 100-point wines certainly does!
Stephane has become a force in the Rhone and one of France’s brightest young stars. His Côte-Rôties are some of the wine world’s most celebrated collectibles with the single-vineyard bottlings starting at $300/bottle and going up from there. In the short time since taking over, production at the winery has doubled in size a few times, with his collection of wines earning lavish praise from Jeb Dunnuck who called it “one of the most exciting domaines in the world of wine today.”
If you can get your hands on any of his wines, I recommend you do. Parker’s Wine Advocate has called his wines “worth the search” and I’m telling you– allocations of any of his wines are gone before you can blink.
Sourced from 30 to 50-year-old vines in two renowned villages, Ogier’s new Cotes du Rhone release, his 2018 Le Temps Est Venu is the best value in a lineup of 18 outstanding Reds with his bottles being fought over constantly by serious wine collectors and Michelin-starred joints from Paris to New York City.
This one is bristling with energy and combines signature Chateaneuf du Pape earthy, bramble notes with the white pepper spice of Côte-Rôtie. It’s elegantly made with juicy crushed red and black berries, great weight and a lengthy finish.

90 Points, Jeb Dunnuck
The 2018 Côtes Du Rhône Le Temps Est Venu is a charmer, yet has more structure than plenty of wines in the vintage. Ripe raspberries, strawberries, and floral notes all flow to a medium-bodied, elegant, lively red that’s already hard to resist. Drink it over the coming 4-5 years.
90 Points, James Suckling
Very fresh aromas of violets, roses and mixed cherries here, leading to a palate that has a very smooth, sweetly fleshy core of ripe plums and cherries. So drinkable now.

This is a sensational single-vineyard Merlot made from incredibly tiny clusters, full of some of the most elegant, intensely structured fruit from high atop Sonoma Mountain. Beautiful weight and balance with aromas of blueberries, black currants, sage and a hint of cocoa. It’s got a full, plush mouthfeel, pristine and vibrant fruit and a wonderful smooth finish. Thanks to Chad’s big bet on himself, he was able to make a knockout Sonoma Mountain beauty, without the need for any middleman, helping us to enjoy one of his best creations at an outstanding price.
91 Points, Wine Enthusiast
Always the one with the most personality of the bunch, this is what Wine Enthusiast had to say about the 2021 release: “This extremely ripe and bold style of Pinot Noir will please those seeking such lushness. Dark in the glass, it begins with black cherry, toasty caramel and cola milk shake aromas.” The cool, coastal days and abundance of sunshine lines up perfectly for a wine that has a good natural acidic backbone, with bold fruit-forward flavors. In an easy 2021 vintage, Joe Wagner had a field day with this single-vineyard beauty.
Not Eligible for Futher Discount-From famed winemaker, Robert Foley comes an absolute delight of a bottle of wine. A seamless Bordeaux blend of 80% Cabernet, 17% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot that is incredibly smoothly now but should have another decade easy of prime drinking. It is the definition of a Saturday Night bottle of wine. One to cherish for a special occasion.
It’s no surprise the Wine Advocate has called the Ventoux a “screaming bargain.” Carved off the left bank of the Rhone River, the 2020 Delas Ventoux is a gorgeous medium-bodied wine with wonderful crushed red fruits, a silky mouthfeel, tremendous structure and that signature Rhone spice on the finish. I haven’t had this wine available for a few vintages, but I figure it’s the perfect springtime Red to bring back in the fold!
