I have no idea why a hall of fame Master Distiller like Eddie Russell would sell this ridiculously good, silky smooth small batch Bourbon for under $50/bottle when the rest of the whiskey world is losing its mind, but I gotta respect the move.
For my money, this might be both the best Whiskey under $50 and the most criminally under-priced Whiskey (not that I’m complaining). Whiskey Advocate has named this one to their 7 best under $60/bottlings, but as you can see this checks in way below. This small batch bourbon is made from hand picked barrels courtesy of one of the best father and son duos, master distillers Jimmy and Eddie Russell. It’s as smooth as can be and jam-packed with notes of caramel, vanilla, rye spice and burnt orange peel. Bottled at 90 Proof, this one leaves a nice, warm Kentucky hug that lingers nicely on the back palate.

A new High West release is always met with a ton of anticipation, but if you’re a fan of the Cabernet Cask finishes on Bourbons and Tequilas like I am, then this one is 100% right up your alley. The aromas absolutely drip out of the bottle—a mix of cherries, oranges, and chocolate dance on the tongue, followed by some nuttiness intertwined with a hint of the used Cabernet barrel. It’s got some spice to it, a little hickory smoke, and some dark cocoa notes at the end that keep you coming back over and over again.
Our third single barrel of Whistle Pig and the first time we have our hands on their 6-year PiggyBack bottling. This one leads with a nose of freshly baked pumpernickel bread, butterscotch and toffee. On the palate, I get a lot of citrus & peach with a touch of lavender & black cherry. The finish here is strong & long with spicy dried fruits and caramel notes that linger. This one was distilled in house in Vermont, and as anyone can tell you with the farm releases, they always deliver the best of punches. This one comes in at 109.8 Proof.
This is one of the greatest aged spirits made by The Dalmore (or anyone) and it’s a crazy rare and special expression. Only 500 bottles in total were made!! It’s created using some of the distillery’s most exquisite casks. Initially matured in American white oak ex-Bourbon barrels, the whisky then moves to Cabernet Sauvignon barriques. It is transferred back into Bourbon barrels before a flourish in 20-year-old Tawny Port pipes. The juice is then married with vanishingly rare stocks and finished in aged Port Colheita pipes. A 45-year process that ends in one of the all-time great Whisky collectors items.
The 18-Year Sherry Oak is an iconic bottling from The Macallan that features an incredibly robust and energetic expression of Single Malt Scotch. It’s lead by European Oak and sherry seasoned in Spain. It hits all the right notes while delivering a warm but incredibly balanced punch. Notes of fig, orange peel, raisin, cocoa and cinnamon dominate the palate. At 86 Proof it’s powerful, but it’s not overpowering and so expertly crafted, it’ll keep you coming back for more.
