A lot has changed in the last 5 years ( you can file that statement under the “understatement of the year”.) It feels like yesterday that Phil Brandon from Rock Town distillery offered me my own barrel of bourbon. I thought I would be pouring this barrel off for years on our cocktail list. How was I supposed to know it wouldn’t last a week?
It was our very first barrel of bourbon & here we are 5 years later & about 100 barrels selected & sold & I’m finally getting my second barrel from Rock Town. Phil makes his bourbon with a mash bill of corn & barley instead of the usual corn & rye. This makes it more chocolately than spicy and a straight knocked out bottle of bourbon. Unfortunately, Rock Town barrels are smaller than most, which leaves us with only 80 bottles to sell. Better not wait too long!
61% corn
30% unmalted barley
9% malted barley
Aged 34 months
114 proof
The barley here gives it the sweeter chocolatey tones as opposed to rye that gives it is spicier ones. Layer upon layer of dark & bitter chocolate with Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee undertones. Has just the right amount of burn but would guess a proof closer to 105 instead of the 114 that it actually it’s.
Each bottle is bottles by hand a dipped in wax ala Blantons. Phil had Bruce blasting in the bottling room while this barrel was bottled. He sent me the video to prove it. Apparently he thinks everyone in Jersey listens to Springsteen all day. Ah, he’s partially right.

This is a very rare single barrel Bourbon Whiskey to make its way to Jersey. Maple syrup, butterscotch, caramel & brown sugar with a palate of caramel apple, roasted almond, ripe banana and graham crackers. This one has a full mouthfeel with a nice creamy middle. The finish here lingers with just the right amount of burn. This was born on 2/3/2017 and bottled at 102 Proof. This is a great bottle of Whiskey.
Our third single barrel of Whistle Pig and the first time we have our hands on their 6-year PiggyBack bottling. This one leads with a nose of freshly baked pumpernickel bread, butterscotch and toffee. On the palate, I get a lot of citrus & peach with a touch of lavender & black cherry. The finish here is strong & long with spicy dried fruits and caramel notes that linger. This one was distilled in house in Vermont, and as anyone can tell you with the farm releases, they always deliver the best of punches. This one comes in at 109.8 Proof.
The third release of three batches from Booker’s Bourbon 2023 Collection is Booker’s Batch 2023-03 ‘Might Fine Batch.’ These mini-releases have become extremely popular, and for good reason. “The vanilla and brown sugar sweet notes come through very well from the white oak barrels this bourbon aged in for over seven years. The taste is great and full bodied; when I added a splash of water, it opened up some great flavors, with a finish that gives a lovely “Kentucky Hug. My Dad would say that this is a Mighty Fine batch of Booker’s.” -Fred Noe
Rich and creamy notes of toasted oak, vanilla, caramel, and fresh baked Bundt cake immediately flood the sense’s as soon as you pop this one open. Bottled at 100-Proof, you get a little bit of heat on the front palate followed by rich oak, leather and freshly baked bread. As it starts to open, you get some sweeter, creamy vanilla notes that cream in as well as campfire s’mores and a dash of pepper. The finish is long, and a bit spicy which leaves a memorable aftertaste and leaves you wanting more.
