Pine Ridge Vineyards, in the heart of the Stags Leap District AVA, is one of Napa’s greatest treasures and one of the coolest places you could check out. The gorgeous, sprawling property was founded by wine pioneer Gary Andrus in 1978 and has carried a reputation as one of Napa’s premier wineries and destinations ever since.
If you’ve ever visited this little oasis right off the Silverado Trail, then no doubt you were treated to the good life. Whether you’ve sat back in the tasting room admiring the view, strolled through the garden, or taken a tour through the vineyards and signature wine caves, you’ve probably been poured the CBV white blend, an explosive mix of Chenin and Viognier.
It’s surprising that a little white blend can be so good, but that’s the reason that this particular wine has been a staple at the winery since the mid-90’s and remains available to consumers for what Robert Parker, Jr. famously called “a preposterously low price.” It just hits way above its weight class. I don’t know whether it’s the unique clay and loam soil or the pure stainless steel ferment, but this just has an aromatic fireworks show unlike any I’ve had from a Napa white wine in quite some time.

92 Points, Wine Enthusiast
This is a huge favorite of folks in the Red Bank area. It’s a bold, unapologetic Chardonnay with juicy notes of peach, lemon sorbet, baking spice and vanilla with a rich, creamy middle and plenty of natural acidity to balance it out. The lemon vanilla finish is perhaps the wine’s calling card or the sheer drinkability of it all. Either way, it’s a Chard that people adore. It’s no wonder Wine Enthusiast called this, “a big win for fans of this bold style”.

If you’ve never heard of Bisci, let’s start here. Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate called Giuseppe Bisci’s Verdicchio “one of the finest I’ve ever tasted,” and noted that “Verdicchio is one of the joys of Italian oenology that rarely gets the respect it deserves, and few producers do it better than Bisci.” A staple at $85/bottle for both French Laundry and Eleven Madison Park. “Verdicchio is one of the joys of Italian oenology that rarely gets the respect it deserves, and few producers do it better than Bisci.” – The Wine Advocate
The newly released 2022 Domaine Laroche Chablis Saint Martin has some big shoes to fill as the last four vintages have earned 92-points or higher, but the early indications are that this is line with previous vintages if not even a little bit ahead at this stage. The problem is – there’s almost none to go around with much smaller yields. Still this is beautiful and crisp, with good focus, energy and depth. I get the signature green fruits on the nose, with some Asian pear, and a hint of jasmine blossom. There’s a beautiful mineral streak that highlights this one. It’s a fantastic White Burg for the price.
It’s an electric white Burgundy, with a limestone-laced aromatic profile of green apple, pear and hazelnut. Refined and high-toned, the pure, delicious fruit that is a hallmark of this terrific vintage, finishes long and fresh, with a mile-long mineral streak.
