Old Forester 150 Year Anniversary Bourbon Batch 2 (126.4 Proof)

Category

In 1870, George Garvin Brown changed the spirits industry forever when he sealed and sold his whisky – Old Forester – exclusively in a glass bottle. Each bottle was adorned with his signature, a personal guarantee of the brand’s quality and consistency. Today, 150 years later, Old Forester announces the upcoming release of Old Forester 150th Anniversary Bourbon to commemorate his act of ingenuity, honor his legacy and celebrate the history of the First Bottled Bourbon.

There were 3 batches made for this historic, one-time bottling. This is batch 2 which comes in at a whopping 126.4 Proof (not for the faint of heart). It’s an absolutely beauty with sweet and savory aromas oozing from the bottle. I get Bananas Foster, creme brûlée, some dried fruit and baking spices. On the palate, you get some of that caramel and banana, dried cherry, fresh baked bread, black pepper and malt. It’s definitely better than the last few Bourbon Bourbons as good as they are… it’s a fantastic collector’s item.

Original price was: $850.00.Current price is: $699.00.

Master Taster, Jackie Zykan referred to Batch 2 of the 150th Anniversary bottling as “sweet and spry” which may be a little hard to imagine at a whopping 63.2% alc. but compared to the thicker, jammy first batch, I can see how you could get there.
