Old Fitzgerald 7-Year is an extremely limited annual release from Heaven Hill that folks rightfully go crazy for. It’s a wheated bourbon that delivers in every department. The nose opens with apricot, peach and light citrus that gives way to honey graham crackers, cinnamon and vanilla with just enough toasted oak to remind you this spent seven years in the barrel. On the palate, it’s rich with flavors of fresh bread, brown sugar and fresh baked cookies layered with warm baking spices and perfectly balanced oak. Nothing harsh, nothing out of place. This is wheated bourbon doing exactly what wheated bourbon is supposed to do: delivering waves of softness, sweetness and complexity without ever getting in its own way. Genuinely delicious stuff.
