Nickel & Nickel CC Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford 2019 (1.5L Magnum)

Categories , ,

Far Niente has launched themselves into stardom worldwide by consistently making some of the best and most exciting Cabernets. I would argue that where they took it up a few notches in quality and stature is when they committed mass amounts of resources and energy into their Nickel & Nickel Single Vineyard bottlings.

They are some of the best expressions of Oakville and Yountville single-vineyard Cabernet produced most years, and in Napa Valley’s exceptional 2019 vintage – it’s not surprising that these wines yet again remain a cut above most of their competition.

C.C. Ranch is planted in Rutherford, along the slope of a knoll just west of the famous Silverado Trail. The vineyard grows classic Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon on well-drained, gravelly loam soil and receives a variety of exposures, depending on the block and location.

Juicy with black cherry and tobacco notes, silky tannins and a voluminous mid-palate, this extraordinary vintage reminds us exactly why we’ve been making Cabernet from this gorgeous, gravelly Rutherford vineyard for more than 17 years. It is absolute elegance from start to finish.

As far as I can see online, I’m the only one in the country with some of these 1.5 liter magnums and our price is fantastic compared to where most people have their 750s priced.

Original price was: $297.00.Current price is: $205.00.

94 Points, Parker’s Wine Advocate
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon State Ranch comes from a parcel in the center of the valley, but it’s one that is relatively rocky and well drained, according to winemaker Joe Harden. Apparently, the vineyard is now owned by Thomas Keller. Delicate hints of sage and mint accent black cherries and blueberries on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is defined by softly dusty tannins and ample, mouthwatering length. Best After 2024

Stewed blackcurrants, cassis, smoked meat, toffee and walnuts on the nose. Full-bodied with fine, sleek tannins and fresh acidity. Succulent and polished with a juicy, flavorful finish. Drink from 2023.

I loved the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon State Ranch. This Yountville beauty has a great nose of pure cassis and blackcurrant fruits as well textbook Cabernet notes of lead pencil shavings, chalky mineral, and tobacco. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated, and perfectly balanced, it has fine tannins and the class to evolve for 15 years or more.

This beauty comes off a slope of a knoll in Rutherford just west of the Silverado trail. The new 2019 vintage of C.C. Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon opens with aromas of plum and boysenberry, complemented by floral herbal notes to create a nose that is layered and intriguing. A silky mouthfeel, this wine is both generous and giving on the palate with a texture that demonstrates immense weight and depth. Ripe raspberry and plum flavors are underscored by seductive spicy notes, with soft tannins gently supporting the wine from entry to completion.
