Mount Veeder Winery Reserve Red 2013

Categories ,

Mount Veeder Winery is a beautiful, must-visit estate with three vineyards carved high in the hillsides of the Mayacamas Mountains overlooking south Napa. In total, the property stretches over 120 acres, but is mostly forest and brush, with just 47 acres planted to vine.

Their advantage over competitors comes from their unique vineyard altitudes ranging from 1,000–1,600 feet in elevation. Dramatically drawn off steep slopes that offer cool conditions– perfect for slow ripening, which extends the growing season. Mount Veeder is usually the last to harvest in Napa Valley. The result is fruit with highly concentrated flavors – big, bold and brambly. The Reserve Red bottling is their flagship bottling.

Original price was: $135.00.Current price is: $97.00.

93 Points, James Suckling
High-toned red but shows firmness and focus with polished velvety tannins and a lots of ripe fruit, hazelnut and walnut undertones.

93 Points, James Suckling

This is a beautiful blend with a little bit of age to it now. At 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec, the gorgeous Mt. Veeder comes through with concentrated layers of cassis, fig, and black plum and hints of cocoa and cedar. It’s weighty and full-bodied with a harmony of flavors, including black cherry, toffee, dark chocolate, and baked spices. It’s big yet elegant, much more than some 100% Cabernets from 2013 right now. It’s capped by a delicious long and savory finish.
