Mer Soleil is the baby of Charlie Wagner, son of Chuck Wagner and the man responsible for Caymus. Charlie left Caymus to put his own stamp on things, bringing out unique expressions of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Santa Lucia Highlands and Monterey Coast.
The Mer Soleil Silver is a change from the typical big, round Caymus style– offering more piercing lemon and citrus notes than the bigger, rounder Mer Soleil Reserve. This baby was fermented and aged in a combination of stainless steel and concrete tanks and is super bright and fresh and easy to enjoy in the summertime

Every year, this wine has proven to be a Nicholas Wines staple. The newly released 2022 Frenzy Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is a fabulous value white wine, loaded with green apples, pears and white peaches plus a hint of spice. It’s juicy and fresh, the perfect cocktail hour white. It’s what is referred to as the perfect ‘pool wine’. It’s great paired with just about anything or just enjoyed on its own.
The Bernard Reverdy Sancerre Blanc 2022 is tightly wound, opening slowly with a complex nose of citrus, chalk and white flowers. With air, higher tones emerge, with a great mingling of ripe fruit, and stony minerality. Medium-bodied, fresh and focused on the palate, with concise limestone-drive acidity, this is an elegant, lively, and energetic Sancerre that mirrors the warm vintage but also the old vines rooting deep in stony soils. What a great persistent finish filled with tension, this is a classic Sancerre that goes best with shellfish, freshly caught fish and or some goat cheeses.
Sonoma Coast is well-known as a cool-climate region, perfect for growing Chardonnay. That’s why it’s such a big deal for Route Stock to transition over for the first time from Carnernos over to here. The newly released 2021 version has a delightful energy in its youth, with a pale straw color with lime hues. The aromas are of honeysuckle, orange blossom and creme brulee with layers of vanilla and a hint of toffee. The palate is lively yet soft with flavors of lemon cream pie and merange.
Every year, Pierre Sparr’s Alsacian Riesling is one of the top scoring wines in the under $20 category. There’s a consistency there and consumers know they can count on a Riesling that is aromatic, fruity, elegant, clean and vibrant. Pierre Sparr wines are extremely food-friendly especially in the widely praised 2021 vintage where quality rose to an all-time high. It’s a bone-dry beauty with layers of citrus fruits, framed by wet stone and mineral character that adds dimension.
