This is one of the most rare and limited releases to date from Maker’s Mark and you can make a strong argument it’s their very best product on the market right now. It serves as a change from their usual playbook – since Maker’s doesn’t really have very many aged statement bottlings. This one is special: it blends an 11 year and old and 12 year old barrel and those barrels were aged in barrel rooms 50 degrees or cooler, giving this one a lot of depth of character.
It has notes of stone fruit, maple syrup, some creme brûlée and toasted oak with some creamy vanilla notes in the middle, a velvety smooth texture and a long finish that’s highlighted by some sweeter, caramelized notes and then a nice spicy after taste. This is a big boy that checks in at 115.7 Proof (57.85% alc.)
