Le Petit Silex Sancerre 2024

Here’s what makes this one so special: “Silex” refers to the famous flinty soils that give Sancerre its distinctive character. These soils were created by millennia of erosion of limestone that left much of the harder flint stones behind. Silex makes for utterly delicious and distinctive wines that have such great minerality along with a ‘smokiness’ from the flint and ripping natural acidity.

The vineyards from which this beauty was pulled are located on picturesque slopes and hills that separate the historic village of Chavignol and the town of Sancerre. The soils are abot ⅔ clay and ⅓ limestone, a perfect combination for creating wines that are extremely mineral-driven and dialed in.
