The Loire valley is the ideal region for growing Sauvignon Blanc, thanks to its climate and terroir. Warm summer days and cool nights lead to ideal maturity, alcohol content, and aromatic intensity. The chalky, limestone soils act as a water reservoir that nurtures the vines even during dry periods, and also impart the signature minerality of Sauvignon Blanc from the region.
Jacques Dumont Sauvignon Blanc is farmed sustainably, from grower partners in Saumur, Touraine, and Pays Nantais. The average age of the vines is 35 years. Nantes, with its sandy soil, imparts round and rich flavors, while the calcareous Touraine and Saumur in the upper Loire give the wine its signature mineral and bright citrus and exotic fruit notes.
This beauty is round and lush, followed by a healthy dose of citrus and exotic fruit flavors and the signature limestone influenced minerality of Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc that people crave.

We are super lucky to get a small shot at this one which is usually nearly an exclusive for the AltaMarea group. The newly released 2022 Sancerre “Le Mont” from Maison Foucher Lebrun is zipped up and juicy yet offers up complex aromas of gooseberry, citrus, fresh-cut grass, with a tropical zest. On the palate, the wine is very clean and crisp, full-bodied and laser focused, with a good core and a long, tasty finish that offers a dash of minerality and salinity.
94 Points, Jeb Dunnuck
Every single year, Adam Tolmach’s Bien Nacido Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are showered with huge scores. It’s like death and taxes. The last time one of his wines failed to receive at least a 90 from The Wine Advocate was back in 2005! In Cali’s “bounce back” 2021 vintage, you know the big score trend continued. The new release has yet to be reviewed by the usual suspects (Wine Advocate, Vinous) but Jeb Dunnuck did get his hands on it and gave it a rave 94-point review where he highlighted the “supple mouthfeel, terrific balance and clean finish.”
The 2016 vintage in Napa was nearly perfect for winemaker Kian Tavakoli (Opus One, Clos du Val). With ideal weather all throughout harvest, he crafted the Faustini Money Road Chardonnay off the famous vineyard located in the coveted Oakville AVA. The picturesque vineyard off Oakville Crossroad is platinum rated, known for its ideal combination of soil & climate and the big A list names that routinely source fruit. Kian’s Money Road Chard is still youthful despite having a few years of age, probably as a result of its 18 months of slumber in 1/4 new Oak.
It’s no wonder this is a hot little ticket amongst some of NYC’s best restaurants; this is a killer wine at a great price. The 2022 Petit Chablis has an attractive nose of citrus rind, white flowers, and wet stone. In the palate, the wine is racy and mineral with just a touch of salinity. The hallmark of the great 2022s will be tension and length and Sébastien’s little wine has both in spades. The acidic/mineral cut will make this fantastic at the table and a great candidate for short term aging.
