Frescobaldi Castello Pomino Bianco 2023

92 Points, James Suckling

This 2023 Castello Pomino Bianco comes from the highest elevated vineyards in all of Tuscany – some reaching 700 meters above sea level. That extreme altitude creates the crisp acidity and electric freshness that sets this apart from every other Tuscan white you’ve tasted. The Chardonnay-Pinot Bianco blend delivers bright green apple and pear with creamy honey richness, plus delicate floral notes that could only come from high-altitude fruit.

James Suckling awarded 92 points, calling it “fruity, refreshing and balanced” with “crisp acidity and character.” Wine Spectator praised its “elegant, silky and charming” profile. But the real story is in the glass – this is Frescobaldi excellence in a completely different expression.

92 Points, James Suckling
A round, fruity and flavorful blend of chardonnay and pinot bianco. Aromas of sliced apples, dried lemons and wild herbs dominate on the nose. It’s medium-bodied with crisp acidity and character. Fruity, refreshing and balanced. Flavorful finish.

Frescobaldi’s story is one that is very closely connected with the history of Tuscany. Sitting just outside of Florence at the high point of the medieval old-town, the Frescobaldis  were previous patrons of major works in Florence, such as Santa Trinita Bridge and the Basilica of Santo Spirito.

For the last 700 years, they’ve been growing wine in Tuscany. Slowly and carefully they have purchased estates which have given them access to all sorts of terroir throughout some of the most prime locations in all of Tuscany.
